BIG Mindfulness & Meditation was founded on a simple but urgent truth: the people struggling the most and doing the most important work in the world are often the least resourced when it comes to their own well-being.

Especially in the nonprofit world with social workers, advocates, organizers, attorneys, fundraisers, volunteers — the front line looks different everywhere, but the weight of the work is universal. Burnout isn’t a personal failing. It’s a structural one. And it deserves a structural solution.

The BIG Mindful Armor Society from BIG Mindfulness & Meditation exists to be that solution. Led by founder and facilitator Stacey Mandel, The BIG MAS is a live, virtual mindfulness and meditation subscription service that fortifies everyone working on the front lines of social change — within one collective space of solidarity. Unlike generic wellness programs, this service was specifically built with the social change community in mind — drawing inspiration from the warriors, activists and visionaries throughout history who understood that sustainable impact requires a sustainable self.

Every Wednesday, multiple live 30-minute sessions run via Zoom from morning through night — giving every member of an organization, regardless of role, schedule or location, a time that works for them. Each expertly facilitated session opens with an inspirational mindfulness-based concept drawn from history’s great social change makers, flows into a secular guided meditation, and closes with prompted reflection. The content is fresh every week. The structure is consistent. And the community is a diverse, like-minded mix of staff, volunteers, board members and beyond — where no one is excluded due to finances.

What makes The BIG MAS unlike anything else available is its radical simplicity. There are no logistics to manage beyond one weekly email with a Zoom link. Sessions are brief, accessible and pressure-free. People choose if, when and how often they attend. Because the kind of practice that truly sustains people for the long haul isn’t the one that’s perfect — it’s the one that’s always there. This is not self-care as an afterthought. This is armor. Built from the inside out.

BIG’s other services range from customized one-time workshops to retreats to keynote facilitation — all expertly guided, trauma-informed and grounded in both evidence-based practice and lived experience.

BIG Mindfulness & Meditation operates on a pay-what-you-can model, because no organization doing meaningful work should be priced out of support. Every subscription also includes a sponsorship for a nonprofit of the subscriber’s choosing — because solidarity isn’t just a value here. It’s built into the model.
