Impact Risk Advising supports mission‑driven organizations navigating a complex mix of operational, reputational, financial, legal, and safety risks—often while working with limited staff and budget capacity, evolving stakeholder expectations, and shifting federal policies and regulations. My consulting practice works with small to medium size nonprofits, member networks and associations, and mission driven businesses to build risk management capacity – through risk governance frameworks, scenario planning, risk appetite workshops, crisis readiness assessments, fractional risk consulting, and flash advising sessions.
Prior to founding Impact Risk Advising, my work as an in-house nonprofit operations leader included managing physical and digital risks for teams in the reproductive health and media sectors, developing risk governance frameworks for international organizations, strengthening cybersecurity practices, and scenario planning for emerging threats. I shifted into consulting to help more nonprofits build the capacity and decision-making pathways they need to navigate this uncertain environment more effectively.
My approach is human centered and focuses on analyzing external threats and internal vulnerabilities so organizations have a clear understanding of the risks facing their staff and stakeholders—and the strategies and tools necessary to manage risk effectively. That means analyzing the landscape the organization is operating in—policy shifts, safety concerns, and reputational pressures—and then mapping those pressures against internal weaknesses like unclear decision-making pathways, outdated policies and procedures, gaps in insurance coverage, or skill gaps.
From there, I help teams build clear, usable tools: risk maps, decision criteria, escalation pathways, scenario plans, and crisis‑readiness processes that strengthen the organization’s operational foundation and mitigate risks before they become a crisis. Mission driven organizations need protocols and risk frameworks they can actually use in real time, not binders that sit on a shelf. Ultimately, I help nonprofits meet the current moment with more confidence, more internal alignment, and more capacity to move forward with clarity and care.Do you offer a nonprofit discount?
