Our approach is different from that of a typical consultant. We don’t observe and make recommendations in a report but rather provide nonprofits with fractional CXO engagements where we roll up our sleeves and work alongside you and your team in a needed part-time executive function. From leadership/executive coaching and talent optimization to fractional Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, or Chief Operating Officer services and strategic planning facilitation, we work with you to determine the correct level of engagement to achieve your goals.

MSL Story

The MSL in our name comes from the Latin Montani Semper Liberi found on the Great Seal of the State of West Virginia. This translates to “Mountaineers are always free.”

As entrepreneurs, business owners, CEOs, Executive Directors, leaders, and managers, we are all “mountaineers” seeking freedom. Freedom from working “in” the organization so we can work “on” the organization. Release from unproductive meetings that consume our days. Freedom from the day-to-day monotony so we can create something bigger and better. Freedom to be at all of our kid’s events, take that vacation, travel, take a sabbatical, or work on our next idea without worry that our team, department, company, or organization will struggle.

Freedom as a leader comes from creating alignment between your purpose, people, and strategy. At MSL, we help leaders and organizations (both small to mid-size companies and nonprofits) define, refine and communicate their purpose and plan while optimizing their talent using software to drive best practices and achieve the results and freedom they desire.

A recent benchmarking report indicates that over 90% of executives expressed the need for outside help with business strategy in some form. In comparison, 70% of CEO respondents said their highest priority is attracting the most qualified candidates, and nearly half said it was their top hiring concern.
