Volunteer leadership in nonprofit boards can often fall to “who do we know?” rather than “what do we need?” Placing the strategic needs of the organization first often means reaching outside existing networks for candidates, and that can be a stumbling block in creating a board that adds real value to the mission.
In this Hubinar you can expect to take away:
Join Steve Boland, Managing Partner of Next in Nonprofits, to talk about digital tools to break free from the traps of recruiting leadership only from the connections of current members. This webinar will first cover a board matrix to identify characteristics your unique mission really needs on the board – and it is more than just a lawyer and corporate leaders connected to donors. Then we’ll look at using public tools as simple as LinkedIn to lock in on potential candidates who meet specific strategic needs. Finally, we’ll cover the importance of board training and retention via digital tools which frees senior staff while improving board outcomes in engagement as well as retention.
