This article from Marc A. Pitman is a great one if you’re a development director who can empathize with the UnderDeveloped report that came out recently. According to the report, a disturbing amount of fundraisers are discontent with their job situation–and executives discontent with their fundraiser.
The advice he gives is great, and comes from the someone who’s been in the fundraising trenches. First, figure out where your time is going, both for your benefit and your boss’s. Second, make a commitment to prioritizing what truly brings the biggest fundraising impact for your organization. Finally, keep getting educated. Don’t be ok with what you already know: learn to fundraise better.
