Well, we’re at the 5th Twitter commandment already! They grow up so fast. Today and always, you should remember: thou shalt utilize CRM tools (when necessary).

I know, I know. Most of you probably cringed at the words “CRM Tool.” It stands for Customer Relationship Management. Or in your case, constituent relationship management. I promise, it’s not as bad as it sounds. In fact, what if I told you that it would make your social media life, say, 10 times easier?

That’s because CRM tools like Hootsuite, Sprout Social or TweetDeck allow you to schedule out posts in advance. Don’t have time to sit at the computer and post tweets all day? No problem. Just pick when you want them to go out. You can even schedule a whole week’s worth of tweets at once.

But let’s not forget about the scary (and best) part of CRM tools: analytics. Who likes your organization? Who is clicking on the links? What demographic should you be targeting? CRM tools can give you the answers to help your organization’s social media presence.

Now, there is a danger to using automated Tweets. Just because they’re automated doesn’t mean you can set it and forget it.

For example, when the Boston bombing events transpired, marketing mogul Guy Kawasaki continued to let his auto-tweets post. Angry followers asked him to stop, and he fired off a remark that put him under fire for being insensitive. Let’s just say you don’t want to be in his position. So make sure you continue to monitor the sites. Turn it off when all signs point to much bigger news.

So, pick a CRM site that suits you, save time in the process and remember not to set it and forget it.

Thanks for watching.
